CULINARY

Caviar is a versatile ingredient or garnish that does not require any form of cooking to be used. It can be used as a condiment on various types of food to add flavour. Normally, it is recommended to avoid using foods with overly crunchy or chewy textures that may interfere with the delicate texture of caviar. Instead, soft or smooth bases are preferable, however certain crunchy or chewy dishes may still be suitable depending on how the ingredient is prepared.

When it comes to flavour, the food paired with caviar should be mild or lightly seasoned. Strongly seasoned ingredients such as pepper, strong spices, salt, and sugar should be avoided. A drop of lemon juice can refresh the palate and enhance the overall flavour of caviar. Lightly smoked fish or chicken are good choices to complement caviar.

Take note that caviar is sensitive to temperature, even when served on a dish. It should be used strictly on lukewarm or cold dishes. Serving caviar with freshly cooked or hot food may destroy its soft texture and overwhelm its delicate taste.
